Brad Johnson Creative redesigned the Langley United Youth Soccer Association Website this September.
After meeting with the client, we learned that the organization required much more functionality than was currently offered on their existing website.
At the time, the existing LUYSA website did not contain a calendar, wsywig news editor, password protected areas or document storage. These were all key items on the organization's wish list for the new website

The Specification Document

After meeting with the team at LUYSA we identified the requirements, and created a rough site map and specification document for the new website. Because the organization is non profit, new features had to be cost effective.

Joomla - Open Source Content Management

After researching available options, it was decided the Joomla would be the ideal solution for LUYSA. Using an open source CMS system such as Joomla! would give the client maximum functionality at a minimum price. Joomla! is one of the most powerful Open Source Content Management Systems on the planet. It is used all over the world for everything from simple websites to complex corporate applications. Joomla! is easy to install, simple to manage, and reliable.

The Final Website

The completed Joomla! web portal gives LUYSA enhanced functionality, like an online calendar, news, and password protected areas for coordinators and coaches. Great functionality using cost effective open source solutions!

Brad Johnson Creative created the branding for Destination Snow - 'BC's largest group skiing and boarding tour specialist' in 1999, and our relationship is still going strong. Recently we completed a complete redesign of their corporate website that includes increased functionality, a trip creator, and more!
Destination Snow approached us in the summer of 2006, with a request to completely overhaul their website. Although a fairly effective website was in use, it did not have any CMS functionality, search engine optimization, or custom features such as an online trip builder, news feed, snow report and the ability to create online flyers for new custom trips.

The Specification Document

After meeting with the team at Destination Snow, we identified the requirements, and created a rough site map and specification document for the new website. We documented the process of creating a new trip in the proposed online trip creator, as well as provided costing to ensure that the project was within the client's budget. Owner Cameron Mein, had decided to use a reputable search engine optimization firm - 6S Marketing, to provide input as to how to best optimize the content for the web.

Full Speed Forward

After the client had approved the specification document, costing and initial mockups, we geared up to get the project completed by an aggressive July deadline. Web programmer Alan put in tons of extra hours to get the site functioning just the way Destination Snow required.

Guides Anyone?

Destination Snow was so impressed with the site's functionality, they decided to add additional features late in the project to allow them to dynamically list available trips to their large database of guides. Guides can log in and see a list of trips that they can work. Each guide simply identifies which weekends/trips they are available for, and the Destination Snow admin group gets auto generated emails to notify them of guide availability.

This system works well in tandem with the trip creator, and has streamlined the guide notification process to date.

What's Next

Upcoming enhancements this year for Destination Snow are additions to the guide portion of trips and creation of the Destination Tours (summer ) portion of the website. Also designs for product clamshells that will appear in Costco Canada and in the US.

Fascinating tea bulbs that blossom into a floral display
We were approached by Shaun White of Phoenix Imports about creating packaging for an innovative new product, Blossoming Tea. These unique tea bulbs are made from white tea leaves , buds and exquisite natural flowers, hand tied to form an enchanting rosette.
Criteria for the packaging was that it had to look high end, yet be cost effective to produce. The client wanted something different from the standard tea packaging that is on the market today.
Brad came up with the idea of creating an inexpensive 1 colour brown kraft cardboard box that would contain the common information about the tea. Each different tea bulb would be identified with a glossy 4 colour label that would be placed on the front of the box, overlapping on the top and bottom to seal the package.
